Visas
China
To enter China, your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you intend to enter the country. You will also need at least two blank pages in your passport for the requisite visa information.
Everyone except nationals of Singapore, Brunei, and Japan will need to apply for a visa to enter mainland China prior to their arrival. You can get this from your local Chinese consulate or embassy. It is best to allow up to ten days for processing.
Tourist visas are easy to obtain, and do not require a formal invitation. Usually, you will be issued a 30-day tourist visa that must be used within three months of issue. If you intend to leave and re-enter China (say, to visit Hong Kong), you will need to apply for a multiple-entry visa.
Indian nationals can only obtain 10 or 15-day tourist visas. They will also need to show traveller's cheques equal to USD 100 for every day of their visa allowance (USD 1000 or USD 1500, respectively).
Remember: It is your responsibility to organize all relevant travel documentation for your trip to China.
You can find more information about the Visa application process on the official Chinese Government web site.
You can also try this web site which might help you find the local China Embassy in your part of the region.
A letter of invitation is issued automatically to all attendees once they have fully paid for the event.

Tibet
If you wish to visit Tibet during your stay in China, you will need to obtain one or more permits. The Tibet Tourism Bureau (TBB) permit is the basic permit, and this can be issued to you in China at travel agencies that handle trips to Tibet.
If you intend to travel directly to Tibet, this permit is available from the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu, but will require proof that you have purchased a package tour. The price of the permit will be inversely proportional to the cost of the tour, ranging from approximately USD 6 to USD 70.
Certain regions in Tibet require an Alien's Travel Permit (ATP), which is available in major Tibetan cities. You will need to check which regions require permits as the list changes frequently.
