Policy SIG Chair election

APNIC is seeking a volunteer to serve as Chair of the Policy SIG. The Chair is a voluntary position whose responsibilities include:

  • Chairing the SIG session
  • Developing the agenda
  • Posting proposals and information about the SIG to the mailing list
  • Encouraging and facilitating discussion on the mailing list and at the APNIC meeting

Nominees

Gaurab Raj Upadhaya

Gaurab Raj Upadhaya has been an active participant in the APNIC policy development process since 2002. He is an active community member through his roles at APRICOT, APAN, AAF, and SANOG in the APNIC service region.

Gaurab's primary interest is in Internet backbone operations, analysing peering/transit relationships between operators and roles of Internet Exchange Points in different parts of Asia. He also spends much of his time in training ISPs in developing countries about best practices on network operations. He initiated the Nepal Internet Exchange (npIX) and currently serves as its voluntary CEO.

Brajesh C Jain

I ,Brajesh C Jain, hold B.Tech ( Electronics Engineering ) degree from Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University acquired in 1972. I am University gold medalist.

Presently I have the responsibility as President at Spectranet with the challenging task of running effective Converged services including Broadband, Internet Data Center, Video & CableTV services. I am contributing as Executive Council member of ISPAI and as a Director in NIXI Board. I have actively worked on NGN committee of TRAI.

I am also Chair, ISOC Delhi Chapter currently.

I was member of Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of India monitoring Committee for IPv6 implementation project undertaken by DIT/Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur/Education Research Network (ERNET).

While internet emerged on the scene in 1999 in India, I took the challenge of managing Internet services, VOIP, IPVPNs, MPLS based services with high uptime and customer satisfaction levels.

I have more than 37 years of industry experience at Bharat Electronics Ltd, CMC Ltd, RPG Enterprises Ltd ( RPG/NTT Japan project ) and Estel Communications and Spectranet. Along with NTT experts, I visited Tokyo more than 25 times and networks in Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong for first hand experience. I feel I have the requisite strong technical and commercial background with good exposure to handling ever emerging challenges in Internet, Telecom and Networking field.
