The APNIC pool reached the Final /8 block of IPv4 addresses in April. The Internet's continued rapid expansion in the Asia Pacific should be an indicator for IPv6 deployment, but where do we actually stand in this large-scale transition?
World IPv6 Day (8 June 2011), coordinated by Internet networking engineers, gave content providers a chance to debut their services over IPv6 to test connectivity and user experience.
In this session, we will hear the latest news on IPv6 deployment, including the most recent statistical data. Content and connectivity providers will share their experiences from World IPv6 Day. We will also hear inputs from network equipment vendors about their efforts to enable IPv6 in their services and products.
Regional Internet Registries, APNIC, and the RIPE NCC have prepared tools to measure IPv6 readiness.
If you would like to test the IPv6 readiness of your users, use this Google Analytics Tracking Code.
labs.apnic.net and labs.ripe.net will provide their analyses based on data they have gathered respectively. We will make this information accessible, aiming to enable the Asia Pacific Internet community to make informed decisions on IPv6 planning and deployment.
This session will also feature speakers representing Internet industry leaders including Google (TBC), Yahoo, Facebook, D-Link, Alcatel Lucent, APNIC, RIPE NCC, and more. We will hear from those directly involved with IPv6 deployment in their networks.
Who should attend?
This full-day IPv6 Transition Plenary is designed to cater to Internet stakeholders including:
- Government policy makers and regulators
- Management staff from Internet-related businesses
- Technical staff from ISPs, Content Providers, and CDNs
- System integrators
- Civil Society
- Anyone with an interest
In particular, network engineers responsible for IPv6 deployment within their networks will benefit from attending this session.
